Is “guatayirgilicous” a word? This is one of the few organically certified coffees coming from India, and we adore it’s delicate, clean, lightly-fruited cup. It’s grown fairly high – 3800 feet - in the Chikamagalur District in Karnataka State on a coffee estate which has been producing coffee since 1888. Bought by an Indian environmentalist and ornithologist in 1973, the entire estate has been organically certified since 1982. This particular lot was grown under a shade canopy of 45 foot-high old-growth jungle. For a delicate coffee, it takes milk quite well. We’ve been enjoying it dripped or in the siphon pot. We’ll have it around for a while, but we only bought a few bags, so enjoy it while it’s here.
